TAKE NOTE: If you’re an avid theatergoer, who are the up-and-coming performers you should keep an eye out for? Theater Jones is so glad you asked. The Web site has begun a new series that highlights actors to watch with a profile on Eric Steele. The 28-year-old stars in Kitchen Dog’s boom. He tells the site, “Something I’ve been thinking about for a long time is having a small group of actors that just works on the craft with no expectations of putting shows up. We just work on each other out of this lab.”
MIC CHECK: Jay-Z rolls into the American Airlines Center tonight for maybe the biggest hip-hop show of the year. If you’ve got tickets, here’s a couple of recently written local stories to get you prepped:
- Quickdfw.com interviews opening act Trey Songz.
- The Dallas Observer revisits Jay-Z’s most recent album, The Blueprint 3. Expect plenty of cuts from that tonight.
- DFW.com looks at the many, many mashups that feature the rapper’s vocals. (Personal favorite, jaydiohead, which brings Radiohead into the mix.)
NOW, WITH AUDIO: On Monday, we clued you into Christina Rees’ appearance on Market Place. The business news program wanted to talk to Rees about “Modern Ruin,” the exhibition she co-curated with Thomas Feulmer inside an abandoned Washington Mutual branch. If you missed the interview, you can listen to it here while looking at a slide show of photos from the exhibit. (As a side note, that first quote is from Dee MITCHELL, not Dee Nichols as the Web site says. How do I know? I taped the interview.)
