When you see a press release with “THEATRE ARLINGTON REPLACES NAKED MEN WITH CHILDREN” as the headline, well, it grabs your attention.

Don’t worry, though – the folks at Theatre Arlington haven’t gone crazy (I don’t think). They really just want you to know that they’ve replaced a planned spring production of The Full Monty with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Here’s hoping TA can lure former artistic director B.J. Cleveland back for Putnam County – he was the best part of Theatre Three‘s recent staging of it.

So why the switch? According to the release:

“The anticipatory patrons will have to wait a little longer for the scintillating and sweet musical since the rights have been restricted from Theatre Arlington in order to allow a professional theater company to produce the popular show.”

The hope is that The Full Monty will now serves at the 2010-11 season opener.
