PRESERVING OUR HISTORY: In July, the Amon Carter Museum announced that it had purchased a copy of The North American Indian, photographer Edward S. Curtis’ study of Native Americans west of the Mississippi. Over the weekend, some of those photogravure prints went on display at the museum. DFW.com details what’s on view now and what will come later.
GET YOUR KICKS: The Rockettes high stepped it to the Nokia Theatre over the weekend for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The show features just about every Christmas character you can think of, but the dancers, of course, are the highlight. “Whether they were prancing reindeer, as in the opening number, or performing the glamorous tap routine in ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas,’ every step was perfection,” writes Margaret Putnam in her theaterjones.com review. Reviewing for dallasnews.com, Joy Tipping says that when the Rockettes first hit the stage, “as 18 high-kicking reindeer, the sparkle quotient goes stratospheric and remains there for the rest of the show.” Need further convincing? Check out this recent piece on slate.com detailing the finer points of the show.
BABY, IT’S HOT INSIDE: WaterTower Theatre has dreamed up quite the interesting holiday fundraiser, and it couldn’t be more simple. For a donation, you can have your picture taken with a ripped Santa or two of his more comely helpers. The digital photo is yours to keep, surely making you the envy of all your Facebook friends. The merrymaking goes down at a storefront in Addison’s Village on the Parkway; nbcdfw.com has more details (and pics).
