The Flickr Photo of the Week for Oct. 7 marks the beginning of Year 2 of our weekly Flickr contest. And we thought, if we’re going to name a photo of the week, we should certainly name a Flickr Photo of the Year. But after picking the winners each week, we’re ready to turn the honors over to you to pick the photo of the year. We’ve selected these five finalists, and now we open the voting up to you. We’ll keep the contest open between now and 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12.

We’ve also been lucky to have Debora Hunter, a photography professor at SMU, chose a winner for us. She was kind enough to pick among this group and has already written some very thoughtful comments about the photo she picked. Will you chose the same one that she did? Or will we have a pair of winners? We’ll let you know Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The only thing left to do now is vote!
