THE NEW CLASSICS: When you think “classical composers,” the European greats are normally the first to come to mind. But they’re not necessarily at the top of the list for Miguel Harth-Bedoya. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra music director has studied the work of South American composers over the years, and the result is Inti, a CD of Peruvian music played by the FWSO. Chris Shull goes behind the music at dfw.com.

BACK TO SCHOOL: No doubt, many of you have been snapping those first-day-of-school photos – your kiddo, backpack on, Hannah Montana lunch box in hand, staring curiously back at the camera. You might be interested to know that that tradition of back-to-school photos dates back to the early days of photography. The Amon Carter has several such photos in its collection, which it shares this week on the museum’s blog.

MUSIC BITS: The Polyphonic Spree will play a free concert at the Palladium on Sept. 24 (DC9 at Night) … Denton’s Oso Closo may soon be on the menu at Chipotle (pegasusmusic.com) … Eisely is splitting time on the road and in the studio in Tyler (dfw.com) … Midlake is shooting for February 2010 for its new album (quickdfw.com).
