After her appearance on Think, I got to chat with Vasarhelyi for a few minutes about why she wanted to make the film. Her answer was pretty simple:
“I wanted to make an uplifting film about Africa,” she said. “And music seemed to be a good way to do that.”
The film opens Friday at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas, and Vasarhelyi will participate in a Q&A with Bart Weiss of the Dallas Video Association following Friday’s 7:15 p.m. showing.
In the meantime, Vasarhelyi, who lives in New York, said as she was leaving the studio that she was off to check out the Sixth Floor Museum.
