TREES SPROUTS AGAIN: Tonight’s the big night – the reopening of Trees in Deep Ellum. REMEMBERING PRESTON JONES: Thirty years ago this summer, Dallas Theater Center staged Preston Jones’ last work, Remember. The play was a hit, but Jones wouldn’t live to reap its rewards as he died suddenly shortly after. Jones’ nephew Trey Birkhead remembers his uncle in this loving tribute on theaterjones.com. The cast that assembled to perform Jones’ The Oldest Living Graduate at SMU the year after his death is pretty amazing.

SCORE ONE FOR 508 PARK: Unfair Park has been closely following the future of 508 Park, the historic building where Robert Johnson recorded some of the most important songs in blues history. In a nutshell, some people want to see the building torn down to make room for new development while others want to preserve it. The preservationists scored a major victory on Wednesday night as the Landmark Commission’s Central Business District Task Force denied a request to demolish the building.
