On Thursday, I wrote about the challenge to keep Dallas’ Office of Cultural Affairs independent. The thinking then was that when the county’s property tax rolls came in today, we’d be seeing a 5 percent drop from last year.
The good news is that the dip wasn’t quite as steep as feared. The actual number came in 3.4 percent lower than 2008, according to The Dallas Morning News. How that will effect City Manager Mary Suhm’s budget proposal, which includes a recommendation to move the OCA under the Library Department, is unclear.
If I hear anything today, I will update this post.
