The Black Monk, David Rabe’s adaptation of an Anton Chekhov short story, will be revived at the Undermain Sept. 2-Oct. 3. A sizable undertaking for the Undermain, the production last April was directed by Katherine Owens and featured sets by Dallas Tony Award-winner John Arnone. (My original review of it is here.) The Undermain’s was enough of a revision of the play’s 2004 premiere production that this new text is what has just been published by Simon & Schuster with Rabe’s play,  The Dog Problem.

Playwright-novelist David Rabe will also be my first radio guest on Think next Tuesday, July 21, when I take over the host’s duties from the vacationing Krys Boyd.
