rick-brettell1Dallas philanthropist Nancy Hamon has given $1 million to UT-Dallas’ Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Museums. The money will be used to fund a Yale University Press series of books on the history of art museums — a series overseen by Richard Brettell, the former Dallas Museum of Art director and currently a distinguished professor of art and aesthetic studies at UTD. The books, one per year for five years, will be released beginning in 2012. Brettell created the CISM in 1999 to explore the cultural politics of art museums.
