From the KERA Newsroom (Thanks B.J. Austin and Justin Martin!):
In Fort Worth, MAYFEST has been cancelled. Richard Zavala, Director of Fort Worth Parks, says the Tarrant County Health Department has declared that all outdoor public gatherings must be cancelled in the interest of public health.”
Mayfest began along the Trinity River greenbelt in 1973.  It has persevered through heat, drought, rain, and grapefruit-sized hail. But the four-day festival will not withstand the threat of swine flu.
Dallas has canceled this weekend’s annual Cinco de Mayo celebration at Pike Park because of swine flu concerns. The annual event was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the historic “Little Mexico” park.
