The State Opera of South Australia has joined the Dallas Opera in “a new co-commission and co-production partnership” to produce Jake Heggie’s new opera, Moby-Dick, in Adelaide. It’ll be the first time the opera is seen in the southern hemisphere — and although the schedule hasn’t been written in stone yet, the other co-producers, the San Francisco Opera, the San Diego Opera and the Calgary Opera will then follow.

It’ll be a well-traveled whale.
