The second half of CulturGrrl’s interview with the new Nasher Sculpture Center director Jeremy Strick finds him discussing his plans for the future, which as you may have gathered from my story on him, involve acquiring new works. The Nasher collection, he says, was never intended to be static (and new purchases had pretty much stopped completely the last two years since Ray Nasher’s death and the departure of director Steven Nash). Needless to say, given Strick’s history at MOCA, his definition of “sculpture” and its context is interestingly broad:
“We’re thinking about sculptors’ drawings and photographs, and also thinking about media that are not represented in the collection—installation work, ceramics, land art, electronic media.”
