AFI Dallas announced today that Robin Wright Penn will join the cavalcade of film stars coming to town for the film festival March 26 – April 2. The actress best known for her roles in The Princess Bride and Forrest Gump will be here to support Haze, a documentary about hazing and binge drinking on college campuses. The film is executive produced by Michael and Leslie Lanahan, whose son, Gordie, died in a 2004 alchohol-related hazing incident at the University of Colorado. Following Gordie’s death, the Lanahan’s set up the Dallas-based Gordie Foundation, which is designed to educate parents and students about the dangers of student drinking. Penn is the honorary chairperson of the foundation, which was the driving force behind the making of Haze.
The film will screen March 27 at 4:30 p.m. and March 28 at 3:15 pm., both at the Magnolia. For more information on the film, you can check out its Web site, hazethemovie.com. To purchase tickets, head on over to the AFI Dallas site.
