Clint Ramos, who provided the set and costume design for the Dallas Theater Center’s premiere production of The Good Negro last October, will receive the 2009 Theater Development Fund’s Irene Sharaff Young Master Award in March. Irene Sharaff was a leading Broadway costume designer for decades, working on dozens of landmark musicals from On Your Toes (1936) through The King and I (1951) and West Side Story (1957) to Jerome Robbins’ Broadway (1989).

Ramos’ work has appeared in New York at the Public Theater and Second Stage as well as at major resident companies around the country including the Guthrie, the American Repertory Theatre, the La Jolla Playhouse and the Williamstown Theater Festival. He’ll be honored along with two five-time Tony winners: costume designer William Ivey Long (Crazy for You, The Producers) and set designer Bob Crowley (The Coast of Utopia, Aida), both of whom are receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards.
