On Thanksgiving Day, KERA (90.1 FM) will air a two-hour program called Giving Thanks 2008: A Celebration of Fall, Food and Gratitude from noon-2 p.m. The show, hosted by John Birge, serves as a contemporary reflection on the meaning of the holiday and includes writers and musical guests riffing on the subject.
In that spirit, I thought I would ask some of our frequent guest bloggers to tell us what they are thankful for this year in the arts. First up is Gail Sachson, who told us a pretty inspiring tale last week about a connection made at the Nasher. Gail owns Ask Me About Art, an educational service, is Vice-Chair of the Cultural Affairs Commission and a member of the Public Art Committee. Here’s what she had to say:
“I am thankful for the talented artists who have chosen to live and work in our area, for the enthusiastic arts supporters who frequent the museums and alternative spaces. I am thankful for the crowded gallery openings, the thunderous applause at our theaters and the long lines at the Tut exhibit. What a joy to be part of such a vital and vibrant cultural scene! Thanks you Dallas for supporting the ARTS!”
Got something you are thankful for in the arts this year? By all means, drop us a comment.
