Ed Bark, former television critics at The Dallas Morning News and current proprietor of the TV-centric Web site unclebarky.com hosted his seventh Uncle Barky Show on Saturday. The guest this time was Mark Cuban, and during their one-hour conversation at the Greek restaurant Stratos in Dallas, the pair worked through Cuban’s reality television resume (The Benefactor, Dancing With the Stars) as well as his involvement with HDNet and HDNet Movies.

The highlight of the afternoon  was listening to the Mavericks owner discuss his surreal experience on DWTS. If you’ve ever listened to Cuban talk about his life, specifically in relation to his wealth, he’ll always tell you that he was happy when he was poor and he’s happy now that he’s rich, and a lot of that happiness revolves around just enjoying the moment. Yet it’s that Zen attitude that actually got him in trouble on the reality dance show. After he and his partner, Kym Johnson, nailed a particularly difficult move, Cuban says he paused for a second to take in the audience applause. That was all it took to throw the routine off by a hair, forcing him to try and play catchup with the music for the rest of the dance.

The other nugget of note concerned his assertion that his fellow competitor Marie Osmond faked her famed fainting spell that happened as she was about to discuss her dance with the judges. i remember watching the show that night, and it all looked pretty real to me. But according Cuban, Osmond was sipping a Red Bull minutes later.

After the show, he posed for pictures and signed autographs for gathered fans. But as the crowd headed home or grabbed dinner, Cuban hightailed it to the airport where his private jet awaited to fly him to the Cubs and Dodgers game in Los Angeles.

You are just wrong! Marie Osmond has more talent than any of the contestants combined! I just took the men in my office to hers & Donny’s new Las Vegas show and they came out believers! Yeah, “Paper Roses” is a long time ago but her talent has only grown to something beautiful. Not to mention her generosity and time involved in raising money (over 200 Million) for Childrens hospitals all around the world!
