Wear comfortable shoes and drink plenty of fluids. This year’s Dallas Art Dealers Association Fall Gallery Walk includes a Deep Ellum sidebar that extends Saturday’s event to 11 p.m., 13 hours after its scheduled start.

But also remember to fill up the car with gas. In addition to the usual inner city gallery neighborhoods — the Design District, Uptown, downtown and Oak Cliff — the walk/drive includes venues as far north as Farmer’s Branch and as west as Irving and Arlington.

There are almost three dozen galleries on the main tour and two dozen stops in Deep Ellum and environs, including theaters and residential lofts. Highlights include Allison V. Smith’s school-set color photographs at Barry Whistler, performances by Dallas Opera singers at the MAC at 2 p.m. and at MADI at 3 p.m., and Antiques Roadshow style art appraisal from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage Auction Galleries.
