… the Texas Ballet Theater is still trying to raise enough money to get there. Invited to the China Shanghai International Arts Festival, the ballet company — the first North Texas dance troupe to perform in China — is scheduled to tour for 10 days in October with 40 dancers. They’ll perform the full-length Cleopatra and an evening of shorter works. Eventually, the company’s work is to be televised for an audience of 500 million.
At the moment, $70,000 to $100,000 is needed to cover shipping costs within China for scenery, costumes and recording equipment. The TBT has set Wednesday as the fundraising deadline.
