The 5th Annual Hecho en Dallas, an excellent, well-organized, free exhibition, opened Thursday evening at the Latino Cultural Center. Thirteen area photographers, painters, and sculptors display works in this juried show.
The collection is punctuated by large exuberant works by Eric Chavera, María Teresa García-Pedroce, and Loretta Gonzalez. Gonzalez, for example, presents two fascinating paintings from her series Sugar Coated Memories of Childhood:
The pieces in Hecho en Dallas are a succinct illustration of Dallas’ artistic variety. This exhibition runs until August 23, 2008.
