There may not be anyone in North Texas curating art as thoroughly as J R Compton, proprietor of the Dallas Arts Revue website. For months now, Compton has been assembling a group show of artists who belong to his site as supporting members and other artists he likes. He has personally visited the studios of more than half of the 40-plus artists in the exhibition and documented their work in big, beautiful photographs.

Called “Fierce,” the show opened Saturday at 14th Street Gallery in Plano, 1412 14th St., and runs through July 29. At Dallas Arts Revue, Compton has blogged not only about his studio visits but also has kept a diary of all the last-minute preparation and mounting of the exhibition.
