The Dallas Public Library has updated its website with a very cool, less-cluttered looking Polaris Library System. Much, much appreciated, particularly the nifty new catalog search engine, which starts off very clean and simple but ends up giving you reams more information than the old system did. This includes (at times) even book cover images, plus the “librarian’s view,” which is kind of like the HTML-behind-the-scenes numerical-code view
I know, my life must be terribly limited when my day is made by a new library search engine. But for those us of who do data searches and background research on authors, artists, what-have-you, this is a rare pleasure. I’ve been playing with Polaris for a week now; if I find any irritating flaws, I’ll let you know.
