Casandra Olivares from Girl Scout Troop 630, shows off her creative creation that she made at the Materials Bar at the Dallas Museum of Art.

The Center for Creative Connections, at the Dallas Museum of Art lends itself to inspiration and creativity for all ages. After exploring the Materials & Meaning exhibition, families and groups of all ages can sit down at the Materials Bar to create works of art. If you consider yourself creatively challenged, don’t worry. There is something in the center to offer inspiration for everyone!

The Materials Bar is situated behind a wall of art created from everyday objects by architecture students from the University of Texas at Arlington. And then there’s my favorite:  the inspiration wheel. The bar has comfortable seating for children and adults, and from the middle of the work tables heaps of supplies spill over just begging to be picked up and worked with. Colored tape, fabrics, binder clips, pipe cleaners, gold foil, and corrugated cardboard are some of the materials on hand.  You’d be surprised to see what others have created, and fortunately many of the works are labeled and on display.

The DMA is open late tonight, so take your date, the family or your friends and go create something!

Next up: Etsy Dallas B-B-Q. See you there!
