The Do-It-Yourself shop Make hosted the Urban Street Bazaar in the Bishop Arts District Saturday. Despite the heat and the threat of rain, over 30 Dallas designers of hip – handmade goods shut down the street and set up shop. Every booth offered something unique – everything from clothing, jewelry, stationery, and art to name a few. Each designer added more to the already artsy atmosphere with their friendly and helpful presence, an attribute to their creative spirit and personalities.

Texas has tons of talent, and so much of it is here in our community. Members of local D-I-Y groups such as  Etsy Dallas and Dallas Craft Mafia were among those participating. It’s a labor of love for the new and experienced vendors who Do-It-Themselves beautifully.

If you are sorry you missed it, don’t worry. At least two more bazaars will be held this year, and you can attend Etsy Dallas’ Summer B-B-Q, a similar event next Sunday, May 18th

Next up: DIY at the DMA. Check out the current interactive exhibition Materials & Meaning in the new Center for Creative Connections. Come, see, get inspired and create with me this Thursday night at the Dallas Museum of Art 5 – 9, Free.
