Both are part of the Bronx-born, Irish-American writer’s trilogy about bedrock institutions under fire. Doubt: A Parable, which takes place at a Catholic school, won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2005 and is being made into a movie. Defiance (2006) is set in the military.

Hockey rock: If The Toadies are really planning to release a new album and attempt another world takeover, the no-longer-late-but-still-great Fort Worth band is building a nice head of buzz. Their latest triumph is a brief performance scheduled for the first intermission of Monday’s Stars playoff game vs. the Red Wings.

Bankrupt rock: TVT Records is in financial trouble, leaving some of its Dallas creditors in the lurch.

Hunky exports: Not one, not two, not three…four North Texas single dudes will be vying for the affections of TV’s latest Bachelorette. Good luck guys, but what about the ladies back home?
