The current J. M. W. Turner exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art is a farewell for Dr. Dorothy Kosinski, the museum’s energetic head curator who’s on her way to run the Phillips Collection. She’s already talking about what Washington has to offer that Dallas doesn’t (she “looks forward to finding a citified energy in Washington that Dallas rather lacks”) as well as the fire she plans on lighting at the Phillips: “Washington old-timers like to recall the days when the Phillips Collection was the quietest of places…. With Kosinski on board, that vision of the Phillips seems likely to recede even further into history. She’s got a major mission and mandate, and is set to get things moving.”
