For those of you who didn’t have a chance to listen to KERA Reporter Bill Zeeble’s piece this morning on the Bollywood screenings and enterprise in North Texas, I recommend that you do. Not only is it an interesting business story, but a cultural one as well.

I also loved listening to the interview with music composer A.H. Rahman and the music excerpts he included to illustrate the film scoring — it’s absolutely transporting.

    This is a classic case of “Who knew?!”

    Listen to this enjoyable and informative, Bollywood music-filled story and then get yourself up to FunAsia to see one of the latest international blockbusters. This is the festive season of Diwali, which always sees some of the biggest releases of the year…”Om Shanti Om”…”Saawariya”…later this month “Aaja Nachle”…People who have never seen Indian movies don’t know what they are missing!

    The most extravagant films are best seen on the big screen but your local South Asian grocer or Indian video store–as well as Premiere Video–have a selection of DVDs you can rent. NetFlix also has a good selction of Indian movies.

    But most of all, JUST DO IT!!!

    If you plan to attend this week’s Late Night at the DMA, from 6 to 7 they’ll be showing Bollywood clips in the atrium, and then from 10 to 11:30 DJ Riz will spin the best Bollywood and Bhangra music–probably including the song that Bill Zeeble signed off with (“Beedi”). You won’t be able to sit still for long.
