Dallas Public Library - Hampton-Illinois Branch

Located in Oak Cliff, across from Kiest park, the new Hampton-Illinois Branch opened in 2006 after 42 years at its former location. It is the second branch to be built in partnership with the Dallas Independent School District and serves both the surrounding community and the staff and students of Jimmie T. Brashear Elementary School. The branch is the first in Dallas to be the home of a Black Box Theater which is used jointly with the Office of Cultural Affairs. Hampton-Illinois houses a Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Center, a Teen Center, and a beautiful garden of public art by Dallas artist Frances Bagley.
