Amon Carter Museum of American Art


Located in Fort Worth's celebrated Cultural district, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art houses one of the nation's preeminent collections of American art, from works by the early 19th-century artist-explorers through those of the mid-20th-century modernists and up to the work of contemporary photographers. The museum offers visitors fresh insights into America's fascinating social and cultural history through great works of art.

The Amon Carter Museum of American Art is an admission free museum. It's mission is to collect, preserve, and exhibit the finest examples of American art; and to serve an educational role through exhibitions, publications, and programs devoted to the study of American art.

Public Transportation
Public transportation: The #7 bus travels from downtown, through the Cultural District, and south to the Fort Worth Zoo and Texas Christian University. The Trinity Railway Express travels between Fort Worth and Dallas.

Directions & Parking
Free parking for museum visitors is available in the museum lot, which is east of the museum off Camp Bowie Boulevard. After 5 p.m. and on weekends, visitors may also park at no charge in the University of North Texas Health Science Center lot (on the northwest corner of Clifton Street and Camp Bowie Boulevard). Paid parking is available in the surface lots and new Western Heritage Garage at the Will Rogers Memorial Center.

A free, guided tour of the special exhibition is offered every Thursday-Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Call the museum at 817.738.1933 or check our website to find out if there is a special exhibition on the day of your visit.
