Texas Discovery Gardens


Located at historic Fair Park in Dallas, Texas Discovery Gardens is a year-round urban oasis filled with natural wonders. Ten themed areas include a butterfly habitat, native wildlife pond, scent garden, native plant collection and shade garden. At family events offered throughout the year, children and parents can share the experience of being amazed and inspired by nature's intricate web of life. Gardening workshops and guided tours provide expert advice on using native and adapted plants to create backyard habitats for butterflies, birds and other native wildlife. At Texas Discovery Gardens, visitors discover a wealth of information on ways to restore, conserve and preserve natural environments in urban areas.

The Rosine Smith Sammons Butterfly house and Insectarium is open every day and filled with tropical butterflies.

Open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day, and New year's Day

To meet with a staff member, please enter the Gardens and then follow the signs to the Administrative Offices in the white house. Administration office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday - Saturday.

$8 for Adults
$6 for Seniors, age 60+
$4 for children age 3 to 11
Free for children under 3

Texas Discovery Gardens is located at 3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Fair Par, two miles east of downtown Dallas just south of Interstate 30. Follow the sidewalk past the glass conservatory to our front doors.
