Other Information
The school was originally established at the home studio of the western artist Frank Reaugh. Mr. Reaugh's historic Oak Cliff home, "El Sibil", was purchased in 1963 by former student Estha Josey who then donated it to the City of Dallas for use as a public arts center. In 1965 the trustees incorporated the Creative Arts Center of Dallas at "El Sibil" and the next year lured a renowned sculptor, Octavio Medellin, away from the Dallas Museum of Art where he had taught sculpture and ceramics for 21 years. Mr. Medellin taught at CAC until he retired in 1980.
