Younger Generation Chorus
Younger Generation Chorus is a non-profit, 501 (3)(C) premier children's choir serving youth from Collin County communities. The chorus has achieved national recognition for excellence, and the choir's artistry and dedication have taken it from Plano to the White House. Students in grades 2-12 audition, and members reap the benefits of professional vocal instruction and training.
In 2010, the Younger Generation family expanded, to include Rising Generation for talented students in grades 9-12, and Future Generation, a training choir for promising youngsters in grades 2-3.
Under the expert direction of Mrs. Tenesa Rasmussen, the Chorus performs throughout the year locally and nationally. Along with annual Spring and Winter concerts, the choir is a regular at Dickens Festival in Historic Downtown Plano and Sandy Lake Choral competition, where the chorus has achieved the highest possible ranking every year it has participated. Other local performances include Plano Symphony Orchestra Concerts, The Nutcracker, Frisco Roughriders Baseball, Frisco Arts Festival, Plano Community Forum, Habitat for Humanity, local nursing homes and hospitals. In addition to an ambitious local performance schedule, the chorus embarks on an annual tour at the conclusion of its season in June.
Auditions for the Younger Generation Chorus are held in January, May and August of each year. Visit our website for more information on auditions and performance schedule. The 2012 tour will be in Washington D.C.
Younger Generation Chorus of Plano is funded in part by a grant from the City of Plano.
