Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge


An 11-acre wildlife refuge, which is one of 500 refuges throughout the U.S. managed by the Fish and Wildlife Service. Dedicated to conserving wildlife heritage, emphasis on migratory waterfowl and other birds. Native prairie, farmland and marsh, located on Lake Texoma. Hiking trails, a 2 mile self-guided auto tour route, and a Visitor's Center are all features that await you.


Hours
The Refuge is open during daylight hours.
There is a public road through the Refuge that is open at all times.
The Visitor's Center is open Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 4:p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Sunday from 1p.m. - 4 p.m.
The Visitor's Center is closed on major holidays.

Public Transportation
None is available to the Refuge.

Directions & Parking
From the Metroplex, take Preston Rd/Hwy 289, north of US 82, continue to Refuge Road, go west 4 miles to Refuge. Parking is available at the Visitor's Center and AV Center, and also at trail heads and along the roadside for wildlife observation.

Other Information
The Visitor's Center is handicapped accessible. We now have one trail that has handicapped-accessible loop, and handicapped parking adjacent to trail head.

Visitors are welcome to take a self-guided tour in their own vehicle.
Boating, hunting, and fishing rules can be seen on the website, and no camping, swimming or waterskiing is allowed.
