Saturday Spotlight: Fiesta Time

by Stephen Becker 8 Oct 2010 5:47 PM

In the Saturday  Spotlight, we’re celebrating our Latin roots. MúsicArte de Fort Worth will hold a fiesta in Sundance Square on Friday and Saturday. The event will feature Latin food and music with plenty activities for the kiddos.  The Tejas Brothers take the stage Friday at 7, followed by Poncho Sanchez. Then Joel Guzman and Sarah Fox headline on Saturday. While you’re there, stop by the juried fine arts and crafts booths featuring works of artists from around the world.

In Dallas, the Latino Culture Center hosts a performance of Piñatas y Doctores, which is actually two programs blended into one. The show is danced by featuring Psophonia Dance Company and teaches children about Mexico through dance and music. In “Piñatas,” kids will experience a traditional Mexican party through the eyes of the poor piñata. Then, in “Los Doctores,” Psophonia takes a humorous look at a doctor’s life as he advances from medical school and all the way to the E.R.

And good news – both events are free.
