El Centro College - H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery

The El Centro College Fine Art Gallery opened in 2004 while construction was still continuing on the new Student Center and Technology Building on the first floor. In 2006 a group was formed to establish the H. Paxton Moore Memorial Art Fund. Mr. Moore was a graduate of TCU and was one of the first English instructors at El Centro College when the campus opened in 1966. He formed the first visual arts committee to start purchasing works of art by students and professional artists to be displayed around the college campus. His support continued even after his retirement and it was fitting that colleagues, family, and friends would establish a fund to continue that support through the El Centro College Art Gallery. Therefore on April 28, 2007 the gallery was formally dedicated as the H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery. The gallery was established to feature fine art by students, faculty, local and national artists.
