Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA)

Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) is nearly 2,000 acres of tallgrass prairies and bottomland forests tucked into the soft rolling hills of north central Texas, with the Elm Fork of the Trinity River flowing through it all. Visitors delight in LLELA's diverse ecology as well as its proximity to the urban sprawl of Dallas and Fort Worth. Located less than a mile from I-35E and bordered to the south by Business 121, LLELA nevertheless surprises guests who relish the feeling of being miles from civilization while, in reality, they are just moments from home.

Visitors to LLELA can enjoy:
- Hiking on one of our trails
- Camping and fishing along the beautiful Elm Fork of the Trinity River
- Exciting birding opportunities, including both migratory and resident species
- Canoeing or kayaking on the Elm Fork or on our Texas State Paddling Trail on the Beaver Pond
- Picnicking in our large pavilion area
- Visiting the log home, built in 1869
- Weekend activities (see calendar on website for details)
