Hurst Recreation Center

The Hurst Recreation Center recently underwent a dynamic $3.2 million expansion and renovation. The project is complete and the Recreation Center re-opened in October 2001.

Participants can now enjoy basketball and volleyball in the New Gym, which was one of the new amenities added during the recent construction project.

The existing gymnasium is used for gymnastics classes. Team Hurst is now practicing for upcoming gymnastics competitions.

One of the most popular new additions to the Recreation Center is the Fitness Center. There are 13 pin-selectorized Cybex strength stations. Free weights and dumbbells are also available. In addition to the strength training equipment, the Fitness Center also has LifeFitness cardiovascular equipment. Participants can use the treadmills, elliptical cross-trainers, stair- steppers, and rowing machines. Participants can also work on increasing their flexibility at one of the three Stretch Stations located at the Recreation Center.

In addition to the New Gym and the Fitness Center, another very popular new addition to the Recreation Center is the Jogging/Walking Track. The track is approximately 1/12th mile in length with 12.5 laps equaling 1 Mile.

There are also four (4) Racquetball Courts at the Hurst Recreation Center, which are available for participants to reserve up to 24 hours in advance.

The Hurst Recreation Center also has a Dance Room/Exercise Room, a Youth Activity Room that has 4 new computers, which are used for computer classes, and five meetings rooms that are available for rental.
