Southern Methodist University - Perkins Chapel

Centerpiece of the Charles and Elizabeth Prothro Theology Quadrangle, the newly renovated Perkins Chapel serves as the primary worship space for Perkins School of Theology and Southern Methodist University. The chapel plays a vital role in the education and spiritual formation of those preparing for leadership in the Christian church and offers sacred space for preaching and teaching.

The chapel's acoustics have made it an ideal forum as a sanctuary for private devotions, weddings, holy day celebrations, recitals, and memorial services. Today, Perkins Chapel stands as a sign of the spiritual life of the seminary and the diverse University community.

Originally dedicated in 1951, the the chapel was one of seven buildings constructed as a result of the visionary generosity of Joe. J. and Lois Craddock Perkins of Wichita Falls, Texas. Its recent renovation was made possible by the continued generosity of the Perkins and Prothro families, and Perkins Chapel now stands proudly ready for the 21st century. Their support of the University will continue to enrich the lives and studies of generations of students.
