South Side on Lamar

Emerging from the renowned Sears, Roebuck & Co.'s Catalog Merchandise Center, South Side on Lamar is registered as a National Historic Landmark. An address known for decades in Dallas as the "Sears Building", the building opened in 1910 as the first catalog merchandise center outside of Chicago a benchmark for Sears, Roebuck & Co., as well as, the Southwest Territory. The successful mail order center expanded in 1913 (oldest structure remaining in the project) and in 1920 and 1925. The "Sears Building" was one of the largest employers in Dallas, closing in 1993. The historic Character of the building's past resonates through today's rebirth.
