Once Upon A Time . . . Stories Old and New

Eisemann Center

RCB and FOL share our passion for literature and music combined in an immersive experience that includes activity stations in the foyer of the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts' Hill Performance Hall, followed by a concert that will encompass music and story narration.

This concert is scheduled for Sunday, October 6, 2019.  It will be the inaugural concert of Richardson Community Band’s Golden Anniversary Year (50 years)!

Prior to the concert, our guests will enter the foyer and have the opportunity to visit various activity stations.  They can conduct the RCB with a real conductor's baton, they can check out the band instruments up-close in the Instrument Zoo, they can place stickers on a global map to show where in the world their family came from and finally, they have the opportunity to meet Nancy Churnin, noted children's author.

Following the activities, RCB will perform musical pieces that tell a story as well as selections that are based on both stories and art.  Barry Samsula, WRR broadcasting personality will narrate the concert, ensuring the audience understands the significance of each piece.  Nancy Churnin will read selections from her award-winning book, IRVING BERLIN - THE IMMIGRANT BOY WHO MADE AMERICA SING.  The band will perform music to highlight the reading.

All of RCB's concerts have FREE ADMISSION.  We always want to ensure our events are accessible to all families within our community.

RCB and FOL are excited about this collaboration and the fun opportunity it will give our community to experience music, literature, the library, and the Eisemann Center as an exciting venue.
