NRH Authors and Arts

NRH Centre

Art and the Written Word come together on Friday, September 6, from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., for the Authors and Arts gala brought to you by the North Richland Hills Library. The Grand Hall at the NRH Centre will be the site of this inaugural event, which has a “Texas” theme - and it’s your exclusive opportunity to meet and greet nationally-acclaimed, Texas-based authors and a renowned oil painter. The evening will begin with a mini-art gallery featuring the grand West Texas landscapes of artist Dennis Farris. Dennis will be on hand to answer your questions about his work. After cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, patrons will move upstairs to the Terrace to hear our keynote speaker, screenwriter for the dark comedy film "Bernie" and true-crime author Skip Hollandsworth, who, in addition to serving as Executive editor of Texas Monthly Magazine, recently penned the New York Times Bestseller The Midnight Assassin.  NRH Library Director Cecilia Barham will head up an engaging author panel which includes Rachel Heng, author of Suicide Club, named a most anticipated book of the summer by the Huffington Post. Rounding out the panel will be writer and historian, Michael Hurd, who has penned outstanding histories of sport, his latest being Thursday Night Lights: The Story of Black High School Football in Texas. Each $55 ticket purchased will benefit the Friends of the North Richland Hills Library, and every ticket will be entered into a drawing for a one-of-a-kind portrait of Texas guitar legend Stevie Ray Vaughan, which is featured in the NRH Signal Art program. Books by the authors will be available for purchase at the event through Barnes & Noble.
