Incarceration, Execution, and the Human Face of the Criminal Justice System Featuring Sanderia Faye, Jim Buffington, Jay Gumm, & Richard Miles

Bishop Arts Theatre Center

There are currently 6.5 million people involved in the correctional system—2.1 million of them are incarcerated. Who are these people? Best-selling author of Mourner’s Bench, Sanderia Faye is joined by Jim Buffington (Bridges to Life Chief Operating Officer), Jay Gumm (Forgiven Felons Founder), and Richard Miles (Miles of Freedom Founder), for a candid conversation that will take us behind bars into the criminal justice system. Framing this community conversation will include readings from Sanderia Faye’s new book Eleven, that traces one families’ struggle with the announcement of eight executions scheduled to happen in the eleven days following Easter. Join us for an exploration into the criminal justice system through the stories of both victims and perpetrators as we hear true stories of pain and redemption.
