Richardson Family 4th Celebration


Breckinridge Park

Sparks will fly at the City of Richardson’s annual “Family 4th Celebration” on Thursday, July 4, at Breckinridge Park. This traditional, patriotic salute is free and open to the entire community. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and/or lawn chairs and enjoy the evening under the stars! All grills brought to the park must remain on a hard surface, not turf!

Food Concessions
A variety of food concessionaires will be on site providing your favorite treats! Each vendor accepts cash or charge. 

Star Spangled Safety Event
This year, the Star Spangled Safety Event aims to make the citizens of Richardson aware of Fire Safety, Crime Prevention and Emergency Preparedness through the means of information pamphlets and goody bags for children.

Getting to the Celebration

Breckinridge Park

Breckinridge Park is located just south of the intersection of Renner and Brand roads in northeast Richardson and features 4.5 miles of multiuse trails, a 10-acre lake, 29 picnic areas and three pavilions. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an evening with family and friends while celebrating our nation’s independence!

On-Site Parking and Free Shuttle Service
Parking is limited at the Park, therefore free round-trip shuttle service starting at 6 p.m. will be offered from the official Family 4th offsite parking location. Please check back for additional information including the parking location address.

The last shuttle will depart at approximately 9:00 p.m. Due to limited space, please bring only items that you can carry and place on your lap while riding the shuttle. Pets are not allowed on the shuttles, only service dogs.

Inclement Weather Plan
The City of Richardson will monitor the weather prior to and during the event. Should there be a threat of severe weather in the vicinity, the event may be delayed or canceled. If thunderstorms develop prior to the event, please call the event hotline at 972-744-4581 for the status of the fireworks display. If thunderstorms develop during the event, information on delays or cancellations will be announced from the stage. Should severe weather develop that could potentially affect the safety of the public, the City of Richardson may close the park and evacuation instructions will be announced throughout the park and/or from the Rockwell-Collins International shuttle site.

Please note the two closest storm shelters in proximity to Breckinridge Park are Schell Elementary – 5301 E. Renner Rd. (North West corner of Renner and Brand), and Stinson Elementary – 4201 Greenfield Dr. Both shelter locations are designated on the site map.

Accessibility
The City of Richardson strives to ensure that Richardson’s Family 4th is an accessible event. Breckinridge Park offers such accessible features as ADA trails, sidewalks and restrooms.

The City will provide free shuttle service to parking lot B at Breckinridge Park. One of these shuttle buses is equipped with a lift for persons with mobility issues. For those with disability plates or placards, a limited number of disability parking spaces will be available at the Park's parking lots A and B.
