MULTI-ARTS CAMP #6: ROCK ON!

Campers will create images inspired by the grand-daddy of Art Rock Stars, Pablo Picasso. His paintings and collages of musicians, guitars and other musical instruments will be the jumping off point for students’ original mixed media compositions that explore facets of the intersection of the visual arts and music.

Students will select from several designs to decorate faux rock shapes with bright colorful mosaic glass and tile.

The amazing 17,000 year old cave paintings in Lascaux, France are the inspiration for this week-long exploration of cave art, prehistoric artifacts and fossil-related projects.

Students will make learn how to make anaglyph stereoscopic drawings, a pair of offset images when viewed with special dichromatic glasses produce three-dimensional effects. Compositions will be based on the great rock formations of the United States such as the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon and Yosemite’s El Capitan to create pictures that will really pop!

The fundamentals of storytelling such as plot, character, setting and tone will be explored as well as various activities, props and exercises utilized to stimulate students’ imaginations. Campers will learn to build their own original stories and relate them verbally as well as in writing and with illustrations.
