JUNE 24 – 28, 2019
AGES 13-16
TUITION: $210 FULL DAY; $105 HALF DAY
MAXIMUM CAMP ENROLLMENT: 15

CLASS #1 (8 A.M. – 10 A.M.): ROLL WITH IT: PAINTING ON ROCKS
(Visual Arts/Drawing & Painting/2D Design) Teens will literally be creating ART ROCKS in this class by exploring the miniature world of using rocks as their canvas.  They will create small-scale masterpieces while learning about painting on unconventional surfaces and using unexpected designs and compositions. Instructor: Cindy Perreira

CLASS #2 (10 A.M. – 12 NOON): WRITING ROCKS!:  CREATIVE WRITING & STORYTELLING
(Creative Writing/Language Arts)
In these two-hour storytelling/creative writing sessions, campers will explore how to create great stories with strong plots and interesting characters. Writing prompts, including lyrics from classic rock songs, will serve to demonstrate plot construction, how and where to start a story, tone, setting and more.
Instructor: Dianne Tucker

CLASS #3 (1 – 3 P.M.): ARCHITECTURE: EARLY ORIGINS TO MODERN MONUMENTS
(Visual Arts/3D Design/Sculpture/Art History/STEAM)
Did architecture begin when people first stacked some rocks to make a house? Or did it begin when they lashed tree trunks together to make a teepee? Campers will explore the early origins of architecture as well as its historical progression by making a one-of-a-kind structure from things like rocks, concrete shapes, tree branches, sticks, wooden dowels, wire, cardboard and recycled items. The study of architecture through the ages will provide additional inspiration to transform these basic materials into modern masterpieces.
Instructor: Robert Batson

CLASS #4 (3 – 5 P.M.): WHO ROCKS YOUR WORLD?: FRESCO PORTRAIT PAINTING
(Visual Arts/Drawing & Painting/2D Design/Art History/STEAM)
Fresco painting – painting directly on the wall – was created by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks and reached its technical and aesthetic peak in the Renaissance. Campers will use pastels, colored pencil and paint on a dry plaster surface to mimic the fresco secco (dry fresco) technique. Portrait subjects will be of the campers’ choice – a favorite rock star or a family member, teacher or hero who has made an impression on their life.
Instructor: Linda Disosway
