State of the Arts - Fort Worth Rising: Is the Indie Music Scene Achieving Liftoff

Kimbell Art Museum

With popular music venues like Main at South Side, Lola’s, and Shipping and Receiving and a growing number of music-centered events like Fortress Festival and Friday on the Green, Fort Worth’s music scene is earning its “Funky Town” moniker. The city has a history of genre-defying artists from King Curtis to Delbert McClinton, but now the national fame of Leon Bridges and the Toadies has brought new attention to Fort Worth’s talented, ambitious independent artists and record labels. Join some of the visionaries in the Fort Worth music scene as they discuss and celebrate the local vibe, the diversity, and the collaborations going on here in Fort Worth— the state’s first official “Music Friendly City.”

Continue the conversation while sampling bites from three emerging Fort Worth chefs: Wero,  known for his taco-filled Instagram and pop-up dinners; Scotty Scott, the Cook Drank Eat chef and food influencer; and Ashley Miller from the new, award-winning Mariachi's Dine-In in East Fort Worth. Music provided by DJ Soft Cherry.
