NEA Big Read Irving 2019 Kids

Irving Public Library: South Irving Library

This year's NEA Big Read Irving in April and May features the title Can't We Talk About Something More Pleasant? a graphic novel memoir by Roz Chast, New Yorker cartoonist. Special events are planned for all ages, and April's kids' programs include Grandparent Storytimes at all locations, multi-generational sessions in which participants engage in stories and make a craft. Other programs include a workshop on drawing a one-panel cartoon, as taught by a professional artist, and a class on creating a family tree.

Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Free copies of the books will be given out at each program and library location while available. Irving's program partners for NEA Big Read 2019 include Irving Public Library, Friends of the Irving Public Library, City of Irving, and Irving Arts Center. NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. For more information, please visit https://www.arts.gov/national-initiatives/nea-big-read.
