The Carson Series of Sammons Cabaret continues with a force of nature named Sheran Goodspeed Keyton. She sings, acts, directs, choreographs, and teaches, bringing her incredible talent to theaters, private and public events, commercial recording studios, and even movie sets throughout the state and beyond. Winning awards for her portrayals of blues singer Bessie Smith and gospel legend Mahalia Jackson, Sheran’s role as Etta James so impressed one critic that she was tapped as “one of Dallas’ reigning musical theater divas.”
Sammons Cabaret is held at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines at Oak Lawn. Tickets are $45 per person and include beverages, light appetizers, and valet parking. Refreshments are served beginning at 7 p.m. concerts begin at 8 p.m. Each concert features two performance sets of about 40 minutes each with an intermission between. Dress is generally business casual, but some wear cocktail attire.
