Join us for a delightful afternoon of study and discussion of Jane Austen's leading men. Austen scholars, Dr. Joyce Tarpley and Robin Henry will discuss and share their unique insights and see a demonstration of fencing, a popular pastime in the Regency and Victorian Eras.
Robin Henry will present "Men Reading Badly: the Representation of Male Readers in Jane Austen's Persuasion while Dr. Joyce Tarpley will present "The Glow of His Soul: Manhood and Homecoming in Persuasion.
The Victorian Fencing Society will then present a discussion and demonstration of eighteenth and nineteen-century fencing and history.
