Misty Amber Moore, Solo Art Exhibit

Mighty Fine Arts

“Misty Amber Moore, a solo Art Exhibit” Sat. Jan. 5 from 6-9 p.m. Fashion Show starts at 8 p.m. One night only exhibit at MFA Gallery 409A N. Tyler St., Dallas 75208.

As a full-time artist, Misty Amber Moore is what some people call a renaissance woman. Her visual artwork, painting, assemblage, and illustrations are often inspired by travel, family, poetry, volunteerism, and a love for the community.

On Sat., Jan. 5, 2019 from 6pm-9pm, a solo exhibit of Misty Amber Moore’s artwork will be held at Mighty Fine Arts (MFA Gallery), near the Bishop Arts District at 409A N. Tyler Street in Dallas. Collectors can enjoy both her literary work, as well as her visual art. At 8 p.m., there’ll be a performance art drenched fashion show with a DJ set by MicMost. Misty’s solo exhibit was curated by Suza Kanon.

Misty’s artwork transcends global boundaries and brings together creative people from around the world. Her use of colors is impactful and expressive. The deliberation that goes into the broad range of materials she creates with is thoughtful and often tactile. She has explored the use of resins, UV reactive paints, repurposed/recycled materials, mixed media, and prismatic enamels, as well as the more traditional use of acrylics and graphite.

“This collection brings together a ten-year body of work that began with my first and second trips to Ethiopia, up through the present now. and beyond... this artwork brings those worlds together. We bridge the community gap by coming together as people, helping us understand the struggles both close by and on the other side of the world. Family, friends... all around the world, we are all human. When we spend time together, it's less foreign and scary. We have each other.”

This self-taught visual artist and poet has also performed spoken word on stages around the world, including opening for poets Saul Williams and Erykah Badu. She has performed at Dallas Poetry Slam, Mad Swirl, Dallas Writers Garrett, Women of the World Poetry Slam, and slams in Spain and France. She was the founder of traveling student slam poet organization, Sounds of Articulate Poets (SOAP). Misty has released multiple poetry CDs, including “Reflections,” and recorded by MicMost “Eye Rhyme” (as “Misty Boldish”). She’s a polyglot, who speaks over five languages including two forms of sign language. Her new book “Quantum Entanglement” was printed and published in 2018, following a humanitarian trip to Ethiopia where Misty collaborated with Meron Hailom on this new collection of poetry. Misty will read selections from her new work at the gallery event.

This 2019 exhibit at MFA will show over twenty pieces of her visual artwork from Misty Amber Moore’s most recent series. Images of Texas echo visuals inspired by Ethiopia. A loving illustration of Misty’s Texan daughter is shown alongside graphite renderings of her friend’s infant daughter in Africa. Tex-Mex calaveras skulls face-off with bold African lions, who remind us to “Keep your Chin up.”
